Issues with RFID
Althoguh RFID tags currently have many uses and are presenting the opportunity for further potential, there are some current concerns surrounding the use of the tags.
-
Standards: Because a RFID tags emits an electronic signal international standards need to be put into place to allow tags to become compatible worldwide. Currently the frequencies used for RFID in the USA are incompatible with those in Europe or Japan. Furthermore, no emerging standard has yet become as universal as the barcode (http://en.wikipedia.org).

Security & Privacy: RFID tags are small, and can be read without your knowledge allowing massive security problems. An example from http://www.technovelgy.com states that you could be scanned before you enter the store, just to see what you are carrying. You might then be approached by a clerk who knows what you have in your backpack or purse, and can suggest accessories or other items?
